Before you apply, please read the following guidelines carefully.
THE RULES
The 2026 Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival will take place July 23 - August 2 at The Alliance Theatre at Trolley Square (two venues) and MadKing's Fellowship Theatre at the Gateway in Salt Lake City, with the potential for additional venues to be added based on demand.
Shows must be no longer than one hour. If you go over the one-hour limit, your lights and sound will be turned off. We warned you. Please keep this in mind when preparing your show.
Fringe venues are equipped with basic theatrical lighting (a full-stage neutral wash and lights up/lights down) and sound playback. Additional lighting (warm and cool washes and specials) may be available in some venues. Use of these elements will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Please note in your application if this is an option you are interested in exploring.
Fringe shows are encouraged to be as low-tech as possible and be able to adapt to any space.
Fringe performances will take place on July 24, 25, and 26, and July 30 (Thursday), July 31, August 1 and August 2 from 12:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Your show may be scheduled at any time on these days. We will do our best to be equitable in assigning time slots, giving each artist both matinees and evening performances.
The Fringe will kick off with a Preview Night/Opening Night Party on the evening of Thursday, July 23, where artists can perform short snippets of their shows for an audience of press, reviewers, and the public to help draw audiences before the festival even begins! The Opening Night Party is optional, but you are highly encouraged to attend and perform to meet fellow artists and introduce yourself and your show to the Fringe community!
Once the application is closed, accepted artists will be given further details regarding venue choice. Your venue fee will range from $100 to $130 per performance depending on the size, complexity and technical elements available in the venue.
